It is only through negotiation and collaboration between the president and Congress that our nation’s initiatives, concerns and problems can be addressed. As evidenced by the list above, there is little the president can do without the approval of Congress. Many Americans would likely be shocked by how limited the president’s powers actually are. It is not a line-item veto, meaning that he or she cannot veto only specific parts of legislation, and it can be overridden by a two-thirds vote by Congress. The power to veto legislation approved by Congress. The power to convene Congress for special sessions. The power to issue pardons for federal offenses. It is estimated that 300,000 people were displaced, with buildings damaged up to 20km away. On 4th August 2020 more that 200 people were killed and over 7,000 injured when an explosion rocked Beirut’s port. All nominations must then be approved by the Senate. Shining a light on the ongoing plight of the people of Beirut. The power to nominate the heads of governmental departments, judges to federal courts and justices to the United States Supreme Court. He or she can also receive ambassadors and work with leaders of other nations. The power make treaties with Senate approval. The power to call state units of the National Guard into service (in times of emergency he/she may be given the power by Congress to manage national security or the economy.).The president’s responsibilities are outlined in Article II of the Constitution and include: The fourth type, expert power, relies on a person’s special knowledge and expertise in a given area. Power is the ability to do or act capability of doing or accomplishing something. This type of formal power relies on position in an authority hierarchy. Despite these impressive titles, the president has strict limits placed on his power and authority. Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. He or she serves as both the head of state and the head of government for the U.S., as well as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education was established by Act 17 of June 25, 1990, with a mandate to, among others things, provide basic education to the country. The office of the president makes up only one of three equal branches of American government. Most people’s learning throughout their lifespans is informal, occuring in family, community and work settings (Jeffs and Smith, 1997, 2005, 2011) and much of what they also learn is by means of non-formal education.
